The Fulks Run Ruritan Club met Dec. 5 at Town and Country Restaurant in Broadway for its annual Christmas
supper. After a buffet meal in the festive back room, Committee chairs tallied dozens of volunteer hours for helping to
register people, playing music at the VFW, preparing food for the home-bound, transporting the elderly, helping at the
Bergton Food Pantry, tutoring at the school, picking up trash, recycling cardboard, and playing Santa and Mrs. Claus
at the school.
Chuck DeHart welcomed the spouses of members. He also announced that the Christmas bags for the home-
bound and elderly of the community will be packed on Dec. 8 and delivered Dec. 9. Robert Brady reminded members
that the Rabies Clinic is Jan. 13 and prices for vaccinations will be $10 for one animal, $9 for 2 to 4, and $8 for 5 and
more. Larry McNally gave the Treasurer’s report, which showed stable finances matching last year. There were no
recommendations from the Board.
District Lt. Governor Carroll Keller spoke about the importance of Ruritan clubs to their communities and how much
clubs helped improve lives. He then installed the officers for 2018: Chuck DeHart, President; Janna Blosser, Vice
President; Lena Custer, Secretary; and Larry McNally, Treasurer. The meeting ended with Christmas and New Year’s
wishes all around.
